Spring Art roundup

As another creative and inspiring term comes to an end, there is a range of fantastic projects children have been working on to share.

From upcycled fashion to historical sketches, each year group has explored new skills and techniques with enthusiasm and imagination.

Sustainable Fashion in Year 6

Year 6 proudly showcased their upcycled fashion designs during their Art, Fashion, and History exhibition, demonstrating creativity and technical sewing skills.

They also collaborated on a large-scale mixed media piece inspired by Henry Moore, depicting a scene from the London Underground during the Blitz.

Moving Vehicles in Year 5

Year 5 became engineers, designing moving vehicles powered by electric circuits.

After creating initial models in card, they developed their practical skills by sawing and cutting wood, foam and clear plastic.

Their thoughtful design choices and eye-catching creations were truly impressive.

Narrative Textiles in Year 4

Inspired by artist Faith Ringgold, Year 4 explored storytelling through fabric, creating vibrant textile pieces with fabric dyes, paints and patterned patchwork borders to illustrate their happiest memories.

Alongside Year 5, they also produced beautiful ceramic pieces linked to their projects.

Roman Ruins in Year 3

Year 3 honed their observational drawing skills, studying Roman ruins and capturing intricate details such as cracks, textures, and broken walls.

Their pencil sketches demonstrate excellent use of tone and shadow.

London Through Art in Year 2

Year 2 explored London through art, creating bold, modern-day prints of the skyline at sunset and dramatic depictions of the Great Fire of London.

Their ability to capture different moods and moments in history is truly impressive.

Superhero Sounds in Year 1

Artwork from pupils in Year 1 was full of energy and excitement as they designed bold, graphic pieces using onomatopoeic words linked to superheroes.

Their striking use of colour and dynamic lettering made for powerful and playful creations.

Dinosaur Drawings in Nursery

Our youngest artists have been busy showcasing their emerging talents with wonderful dinosaur drawings.

Their expressive and imaginative work has been a joy to see.

Head of Art and Design Technology Mrs Helen Clarke said: “It has been a fantastic term of creativity and we are so proud of all the children for their hard work and enthusiasm.

“We can’t wait to see what the next term brings!”
