The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
More than 65 Lower School girls took to the stage for a breathtaking summer production of CS Lewis’ ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’.
Parents, fellow pupils and family members packed out the Theatre across four performances to see the Pevensie children’s famous adventure.
With colourful sets and costumes – including a few impressive surprises – the audiences were transported to the magical land of Narnia.
In addition to the main performances, children from local schools including Headington Prep visited a special dress rehearsal performance. Prep girls declared as they emerged: “It felt as though you had been teleported into the book.”
Deputy Head of Prep and keen audience member Mrs Tessa Davey said: “This truly multi-sensory experience combined superb performances with technical brilliance, stunning puppetry, and a brilliant, dynamic stage-set to create an unforgettable theatrical experience for all the family.”
As well as those treading the boards, the cast were ably supported by a student-led backstage crew, two pupil Assistant Directors and imaginative costumes designed and created by Art Scholars alongside the Art Department. Even the poster and programme cover artwork were devised by pupils.
