The London Contemporary Dance School
On Wednesday 27th November, girls studying GCSE Dance and L5-L6 Dance Scholars had an experience day at the London Contemporary Dance School (The Place).
This was an inspiring and wonderful day for those involved, offering a chance to experience the atmosphere and environment of a professional undergraduate dance training school in London.
Girls took part in an outstanding Contemporary Dance workshop in the studio, the home of Richard Alston’s dance company, learning repertoire from Richard Alston’s ‘Nomadic’ accompanied by a live musician.
They also watched two professional Contemporary technique classes with both first year and second year students at the school and toured the building, meeting one of the dancers from Richard Alston’s dance company for a question and answer session.
Headington Director of Dance Miss Faith Jackson said: “We were all incredibly excited to find out that Sir Richard Alston was watching through the window at one point!
“Our pupils were truly inspired by these students’ commitment, focus, technique and choreography, demonstrating the high intensity degree level training on offer.
“All involved worked incredibly hard and performed to an outstanding standard, representing both the School and themselves with great honour.”
