The Sound of Dance
This year’s Winter Concert, ‘The Sound of Dance’ provided a magical evening full of wonderful music!
Nearly 200 girls across the Senior and Prep schools were involved in the performance.
The concert featured four choirs, four orchestras and six different ensembles.
‘The Sound of Dance’ was presented through music across various genres, styles, countries and centuries. From Beethoven to Dua Lipa, the girls fascinated a spellbound audience with their dazzling performances.
Atmospheric moments were created by the guitar and harp ensembles, while the Prep girls captured the audience’s attention with a colourful rendition of ‘Dance the Night away’.
Chamber Choir brought the Christmas spirit with the classic ‘Carol of the Bells’ and made people tap their feet with an acappella version of ‘African Noel’.
The audience enjoyed the famous Shostakovich’s ‘Waltz no. 2’ played by Sinfonietta and appreciated the habanera and tango of the String Orchestra.
The Flute Ensemble transformed the School’s main hall into a theatre stage when playing a popular song from the musical ‘Oliver!’ and the Brass Ensemble recreated the relaxed and warm atmosphere of a jazz club.
The spectators were transfixed by an impressive performance from Natalie (U6), who played a piano concerto with the Symphony Orchestra, and were amazed by the energetic and virtuosic solo by Aev (U5) during the Percussion Ensemble.
Miss Rossella Rubini, Head of Piano said: “The concert was a lovely exhibition of the girls’ talents and we’d like to extend our thanks to all of the spectators!”
