U11 Chandlings Cricket Tournament
U11 Cricket Tournament at Chandlings – Thursday 6th June 2019
Headington went to the annual Chandlings Cricket tournament on Thursday 6th June. The first match was against the eventual tournament winners, Chandlings. Headington fielded first and some good fielding restricted Chandlings to 51 runs. Headington then batted well and scored 52, but the loss of wickets meant that Chandlings won the match.
The second match was against Cokethorpe. Headington learnt from their first match and took three wickets and restricted their opponents to 35 runs. The team then went on to score 100 runs.
Next up was Oxford High and great fielding (three excellent catches taken) restricted Oxford High to 52 runs. Great running between the wickets and some big shots gave Headington victory. The final matches were determined by the number of wickets taken as well as matches won and this put Headington into the 5th/6th playoff, again against Oxford High. The opposition played much better in this match, but again superb running between wickets and excellent fielding meant that Headington secured a well-deserved victory.
The whole team played really well and all deserved credit for the way they supported each other as a team. However, there were two individual awards that stood out.
Most improved player: Matilda
Player of the tournament: Ruby
Well played everyone.
