U11 IAPS National Tennis Finals

Headington Prep School’s U11 Tennis team showcased remarkable skill and determination at the IAPS National Tennis Finals held at Clifton College, Bristol.

The tournament, spanning two days, witnessed fierce competition and outstanding performances from all participating schools.

Headington received a bye in the first round before taking on Stoneyhurst, who they beat 4-0, 4-0, 4-0. The team displayed flawless Tennis and secured a decisive victory.

The girls progressed to the quarter finals against Fairfield Prep and continued their winning streak with another strong performance, earning a spot in the semi-finals, scoring 4-1, 4-0, 4-1.

The remainder of the competition went into the next day, with the team lining up a semi-final match. In a near four-hour thriller, Headington faced The Perse, the eventual tournament winners. The match was a nail-biting contest with both teams giving their all. Despite Headington’s valiant efforts, they were narrowly defeated in a gripping encounter, with the final score reading 8-4, 6-8, 8-4.

In the match for third place, Headington bounced back with a commanding performance against Dean Close, securing the bronze medal with a convincing win 8-0, 8-2, 2-1.

Special recognition goes to Sports Scholar Emma T and Tennis Captain Sofia J, who were exceptional throughout the tournament. Their resilience, sportsmanship, and excellent performances throughout the tournament were outstanding. Securing the National Finals Bronze Medal is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
