U11 IAPS Netball Tournament
The Under 11 netball team had an amazing day out on Thursday 27th February at the Regional IAPS Netball tournament, held at Queen Anne’s School, Caversham.
In their group, they met the toughest opposition, Orchard House, first, losing 3-5. They then settled and played their best netball against Claremont Fan Court School, winning 7-5. In their third game they dominated a weaker opposition 10-1. They then played Chandlings (who they had beaten earlier in the week) and managed a 4-4 draw. Their final game was against the Manor Prep and they managed a 4-2 victory from a scrappy game.
This meant they were into the quarter finals! They came out on top of Abbey School, Reading with a 2-1 win and then faced Godstowe in a tense match where Headington dominated initially with the momentum finally going the way of Godstowe with a 6-5 victory. This then meant that they had to play off against Orchard House for 3rd place and a place at the National Finals. As this was the only team they had lost too in the rounds it was going to be tough. Headington gave everything they had and the final score was 4-3. Well done to all the players! It was a real squad performance and a show of resilience and perseverance. We are looking forward to the National Finals on Friday 20th March at Bryanston School.
