U11 Summertown Stars Football Tournament 2023

On Saturday 17th June, the Prep School U11 Football team took part in the annual Summertown Stars Football event at Cutteslowe Park.
The U11 girls category was very competitive with 18 sides competing for the title. The Headington girls were drawn into Group B, with the top two teams going through from each group. They won three, drew one and lost one which gave them 10 points and qualified them for the quarter finals.
This next round was nailbiting with both teams scoring a goal each and the game going to penalty shootouts! Luckily the girls won 6-5 with Summer making two fantastic saves. This put them in the semi-finals where despite huge efforts and fantastic hard work, the Berkshire County Diamonds took the win.
Despite this defeat, the team were very proud of reaching the final four teams in such a competitive category.
Mr Tom Peace, Football Coach, said: “It was an incredibly hot day and the team showed immense perseverance, teamwork and compassion throughout.”
