Wychwood Model United Nations
At the beginning of November, five members of the School’s Model United Nations (MUN) club participated in Wychwood School’s inaugural MUN.
Having been to a conference in March, Emily, Anaya, Ellie, Tinu and Zara were well prepared in terms of resolutions and confident when debating topics as diverse as human generated space debris, antibiotic resistance and child obesity.
Such was the expertise with which the students acquitted themselves that Emily and Tinu were officially commended for their continuous and pointed interventions in the debates. This underlines the Headington students’ courage and curiosity in putting themselves at the forefront of discussions and actions on critical global issues.
It was their resolution which was ratified on an emergency situation in the final general assembly. It was also very rewarding for the organisers to recognise Zara’s precise control of her committee as she undertook being Assistant Chair with aplomb!
Mr Cy Webber, Head of Economics at Headington School, said: “So enthused were the students by their experiences that they would like to plan Headington’s first MUN conference in the near future. Watch this space!”
