Year 1 Superhero day 2021
On 17th September, Year 1 girls kicked off their superhero topic with a bang. They arrived at school dressed in their finest superhero costumes and started the day with a superhero hunt, rescuing the various superheroes who had become mysteriously trapped in the playground. There was a fashion show where each child struck their favourite superhero pose for a photo, which was then used to paint a self-portrait with speech bubbles explaining their super powers. Following that the girls discussed real life superheroes who they see every day, such as doctors, nurses, policemen and firemen. We were even fortunate enough to be visited by our local fire fighting team who showed us their fire engine and taught us about fire safety.
Miss Thompson-Rowlands said ‘It has been a great day of discovery, discussions and delight. The girls have really enjoyed racing around thinking about what it takes to be a superhero in real life and in fictional stories. It was a great way to begin our topic for the term.’
