Year 2 visit Museum of Natural History
Year 2 had a wonderful trip to the Museum of Natural History in Oxford to start their new Creative Curriculum topic, ‘Dinosaur planet’.
They enjoyed an interactive workshop with real dinosaur fossils and bones. They learnt about the connection between dinosaurs, reptiles and birds. After their workshop, they spent time in groups exploring the museum. They were very interested to learn that many of the artefacts had been discovered in Oxford and even Headington.
Bea said: “The best thing was touching the massive jaw of a T-Rex”
Astrea said: “It was great! I got to see dinosaurs that I didn’t know existed!”
Mrs Joanna Haynes, Head of Key Stage 2 and Year 2 teacher, said: “Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic workshop where the children were able to touch and explore real dinosaur specimens including fossilised dinosaur poo and the tooth of a T-Rex.
“We were blown away by the age of fossils in the museum and the similarities between dinosaurs and birds today. It was wonderful to see the pupils being so engaged in everything that they were being taught.”
