Year 4 become Tudors
Step Back in Time: Year 4’s Tudor Adventure at Ufton Court
Year 4 had an unforgettable experience on their two-night residential at Ufton Court.
The pupils had a brilliant time, stepping into the past and immersing themselves in the life of the Tudors.
From working on the farm—milking cows, making flour, and tending to livestock—to mastering essential survival skills like fire-lighting, fence-whittling, and thread-making, pupils gained hands-on insight into Tudor life. They even crafted their own bows and arrows from nearby willow trees!
The adventure continued with a grand Tudor banquet, where pupils dressed in period costumes and entertained the Lords and Ladies (their teachers) with lively dances, songs, and riddles.
The excitement peaked on the final morning as pupils raided the manor, uncovering secret priest holes and gathering evidence against the Perkins family.
With a dramatic verdict of ‘death by hanging,’ the experience truly brought history to life.
One pupil summed up the thrill of the raid and said: “I loved getting to raid the house.
“We got to explore the whole place and find all the secret priest holes. It was so much fun proving their crimes.”
Through teamwork, resilience, and curiosity, Year 4 embraced every challenge the trip had to offer, making memories that will last a lifetime!
