Year 5 residential at PGL Liddington
It was non-stop action for Year 5 girls as they headed off on their residential trip to PGL near Swindon.
The girls had been full of excitement for weeks for their three night-long residential and as the day approached the excitement turned to a few nerves. However these were short-lived once on the bus, singing songs and finally arriving at ‘the best camp ever’!
They exhausted themselves with canoeing, climbing, zip-wiring, rafting, archery and capture the flag and more. The most popular activity was the Big Swing and on their return parents were treated to some footage of the girls as they swung in trios through the air – along with the ear-piercing screams that accompanied them!
The girls also learned the fantastically cheeky pirate and Coca Cola songs that they sung with glee to their parents at the PGL assembly on their return. They described their favourite activities and memorable moments. This was a week where the girls were able to enhance friendships old and new, try new activities and build on their resources of resilience, compassion, collaboration and confidence. They all rose to the challenge and, fortunately for the teachers, slept very well in the evenings too. Although a few parents mentioned that it took their daughters about a week to recover from it all, it was clearly all worthwhile, looking at the endless smiling faces in the photos below.
