Enrichment Activities
Outside the classroom is a whole world of experience, waiting to be explored, and we have a wealth of teams, clubs, societies, lectures, trips and enrichment opportunities designed to develop character and skills for life.
What girls learn in lessons is only a fraction of what goes on at Headington Rye Oxford.
Choice
We offer a huge amount of choice for all age groups in the areas of Academic Enrichment, the Arts, Sport, Music, Languages, Leadership and Adventure. The selection changes all the time, with new clubs and societies being created and new opportunities on offer. We are mindful that families will have different time commitments outside the core school day so ensure we offer a variety of activities at different times, including before and after school, during lunchtime and at weekends.
Collaboration
We work closely with other local schools to improve the experiences we are able to offer our girls, for example teaming up with Radley College’s English Department for debates and other activities and joining Magdalen College School for the Model United Nations.
Where do activities take place?
We are very lucky that we have first-class facilities at Headington Rye Oxford to allow us to host most of our extra-curricular activities in-house. Where appropriate, we make use of some of the other excellent specialist facilities on offer in Oxford and the surrounding area. Our rowers, for example, train both in our state-of-the-art ergo room at Headington and on the river at Godstow.
What will my daughter be able to do?
We are delighted to be able to provide such a full and varied extra-curricular programme, with well over 120 activities on offer every week. Your daughter could be honing her writing skills in Creative Writing club, learning how to build a business in Dragons’ Den, expressing herself in Street Dance or building and programming robotics in Student Robotics.
