Meet Emily
Emily joined Headington in U3 from an independent prep school. She is currently studying for A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths as well as an EPQ. She plays Hockey and Netball for Headington’s first teams and has previously learned Saxophone and Clarinet, as well as completing her silver Duke of Edinburgh Award. Other interests include the CREST Science club and she hopes to study Veterinary Medicine after Headington.
On Science at Headington
I find studying Sciences at Headington excellent due to the amazing labs and facilities we have here. Every student is able to get a clear grasp on real world science by carrying out numerous experiments and getting hands on.
On teaching at Headington
The teachers always encourage you to push yourself and delve deeper into any subject or topic that interests you. They enable us to gain further understanding about the world around us while offering all the support we need. All the teachers are very capable in their subjects and have a real love for the subjects they are teaching which definitely rubs off on the students and make the lessons so much more enjoyable.
On what makes Headington special
I think the people are what makes Headington special. Every person at Headington, whether that is student or teacher, is always there to help and support you in whatever you do. Every student is encouraged to become their own person and develop their own love and interests for subjects they are interested in. Headington helps the students pave a pathway in the ever changing world we now live in.
On how to embrace the opportunities at Headington
The one thing I would definitely say is to get involved. Join the CREST club, Dissection club, any club that takes your fancy as there are so many great opportunities Headington has to offer so why not embrace them and see where that will lead you. You have all of these opportunities now; it would be a waste to not embrace them.
On her ambitions
I want to achieve A Level results to ultimately set me up on the career path I want to do. On top of this I would love to be in some kind of leadership role such as hockey captain and also complete my CREST award.
